World Agroforestry Centre
The World Agroforestry Centre is an international, non-profit research organization, which works to reduce rural poverty, increase food security, improve nutrition and sustainably manage natural resources, by promoting the growth and use of trees on farms.
We are one of the 15 centres of the CGIAR Consortium, the world’s premier agriculture and natural resource management group working in developing countries.
Our vision is a rural transformation in the developing world as smallholder households strategically increase their use of trees in agricultural landscapes to improve their food security, nutrition, income, health, shelter, energy resources and environmental sustainability.
The organization’s research is organized around six research priorities: Quality Trees; On-farm Productivity; Marketing and Extension; Land Health; Climate Change; and Environmental Services. Underpinning all our research is a strong commitment to improving science quality, accelerating impact and enhancing partnerships.
Our headquarters are based in Nairobi, Kenya. We have six regional offices located in in Africa, Asia and South America, and conduct research in 24 other countries.
