‘Biodiversity in Good Company’ Initiative

The ‘Biodiversity in Good Company’ Initiative is a cross-sectoral collaboration of businesses that have committed to protecting and sustainably using biological diversity.

As such, it is one of the first business platforms worldwide specifically dedicated to the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The Initiative was founded in Germany where it is still located today.
The network’s work is based on the conviction, goals and responsibilities that have been outlined in a mission statement and a ‘Leadership Declaration’. Its members consider it to be an integral business responsibility to successfully do business in accordance with the needs of the natural world.

Already in 2008, the German Federal Environment Ministry had founded the platform  as part of its presidency of the 9th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to CBD. In 2011, the member companies assumed full responsibility for the Initiative by establishing it as a non-profit association.
